The Pilot Prera Fountain Pen is built to the scale of an ordinary day. Just over 120mm capped and a little under 16 grams, it belongs to the pocket, the planner loop and the inside of a jacket rather than to a desk display. The resin barrel is solid rather than showy, the chrome trim restrained, and the snap cap closes with a short, definite click that tells you the nib is sealed.
The section is narrow and smooth, and it warms quickly between your fingers — you find your grip on the first try and never rearrange it. Unposted the pen is genuinely small; posted, the balance shifts back and settles, which suits a long letter rather better than a hurried note. A converter comes in the box, so bottled ink is an option from the very first day rather than a later upgrade.
What Makes It Work So Well
Please note: Fine (F) and Medium (M) are both calibrated to Japanese standards and write finer than the equivalent Western grades.
